Default Backspacing Explained

I think I'm understanding that "backspacing" is based on the distancefrom the center of the rim to its edge. And that each manufacture to each style will be a different back space. Is this correct?

it has more to do with where the center of the hub is in relation to the center of the wheel IIRC.

I have been told that F150's need 5.25 inches minimum positive offset to fit on a truck without modifications. I just ordered 6" offsets off of Centerline's website where they are pretty clear about the offsets that fit and don't fit.

Thanks for the info Neggy... based on the "Sticky" at the top of the forum, the F150 2wd stock rims are 5.5. I just need to look up the Pacer Ridgelines and find out if the back space is minimum of 5.25.

Backspacing/offset: http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...-8&sa=N&tab=wi

Theres a sticky that goes into detail about tire sizes, backspacing, etc at the top of this forum.
