Default AUX Input

I have an 06 KR and it doesn't have an aux input for an MP3 player. But I have seen in other f150s that they have them. They're usually located in the "dash tray" in one of the corners. Is this from a year model or is it an accessory? If it is an accessory, how/where do I get it?

I found this... but is this what I'm looking for to have that input port in the dash tray?

Yea that will work. I just bought the tray your talking about, added that and the AUX converter. Then I bought an RCA cable and cut off one end, pluged it in, and wired the other end to the factory plug pigtail on the dash tray. Works like factory. Hope that helps.

It is a model year upgrade. They started putting the AUX-in on the dash tray in 07'. It is (in my opinion) an awkward place to put it though as the input cable winds up all over the front of the dash if you keep your MP3 player on/in the center console. So in that respect an accessory that re-routes the input location is a desirable setup.

That being said I, at one time, had one of these accessories that claimed to provide an AUX-in as well as iPod interface with the factory head unit that did not work at all. I can't recall the brand but after spending the money and going through the trouble of pulling the head unit to hook it all up I just got disgusted and relocated the existing input (I have an 07') to inside the center console and forgot about iPod interface all together.

So yes, what you're looking at is the right idea. But I would do some research and read some reviews on which units work best before I went through the trouble of spending money and hooking it all up. Others on here may have had better experiences and can recommend a better brand but I haven't looked into it much after I gave up on mine.

Hope this provides a little insight.

Dang, missed it by one year! lol You'd think with it being a KR it would have it. Oh well. With your advise, I think I'll go that route and relocate it some where a little more out of the way. Thanks for the help brother.
