Anyone Without Issues???
If any year is more prone to have problems than others.. It's the 2004... not to scare you away from a good truck, because you're just as likely to have no problems assuming you practice good maitenence. I own a 2006, purchased with 24k miles on it, it now has over 60,000 and I have had not one problem aside from squeaky windows which seems to be frequent, and only a nuisance. As far as reliability goes my truck has never had an issue... not one.
I have 91k miles on mine. I bought it with about 79k miles on it. The dealer replaced one of the window switches for me. Just put some new tires on... I did the brakes too, but mostly because I wanted more stopping power. I probably had another 20k or so in the stock brakes.
Nothing really to report otherwise.

I never had any problems with my 2005 or 2007. All of them had over 50K on the clock at least. If you take care of them, they will last you forever. The ones that have the issues are mostly owned by idiots that do nothing to maintain them.
your going to have little issues with any vehicle as it gets older, but as far as major issues are concerned I wouldnt worry(IF you do your part).

I am new to the site, and about to be (possibly) a first-time Ford F-150 owner. I have found a 2004 F-150 5.4 Crew Lariat (106,000 miles)that I would like to buy, but have found lots of issues (spark plugs, cam phasers, brake rotors, windows, etc.) that are common with these trucks.
I know you only hear the bad things online, as with any vehicle, so I want to know if anyone has an 04-06 5.4 that has had no issues at all? If so, how many miles does it have now?
The truck does have a shudder in the brakes and has had 2 windows repaired that fell into the door, FYI. Plugs haven't been changed that is known of and cam phasers are quiet to my knowledge. Does the cam phaser noise only start after the engine is hot?

ive got a 2004 fx4 supercab new body with 135000 miles on it.. ive just recently had to fix 4x4 but i broke that myself.. also my rotors have been turned because it shutters when i used to slow down and thats only 90 bucks.. any truck you get will have its problems..mine runs like a champ i can take it anywhere and it wont let me down.. just get regular things done.. oil filter oil air filter replaced or cleaned fuel filter etc. but if the truck runs good and drives good and your still not sure get it checked out by a mechanic.. ive heard so many people talk about the problems on 2004s but havent seen any of those problems... but when i come to them ill just fix em and keep on truckin
good luck bro
I have a 2007 f150 xlt 4x4 5.4L. I bought it used about a month ago. Most of my issues are with the previous owner. The interior was filthy. It was cheap though. I love the truck so far. My previous truck was a 1999 with 290k miles on it and the only issue was the body was rusting. That truck still runs great(sold it to a friend). This one has very loud injectors, but runs and drives great. One other issue I have is that the windows roll up really slowly.
I've had my '05 now for about 6 months. Bought it with 55k now has 65k. No issues. I had the tranny reprogrammed. It wasn't necessary but it did fix a shift bump that had. Other than that I just keep it maintainanced by the dealer only. If it's been treated well and you treat it well it'll be a good truck. I notice that if I pay too much attention to this forum I start to worry a lot about plugs, phasers and all the other problems people post here. These problems really aren't that common. But they are concentrated on this website. My dealer says that as long as they are maintained on time they should last a good long time. Every time I ask them about the problems posted here they calm my nerves. They're good trucks. I'd go for it if I was you.
See if the dealer you are buying it from will throw in a spark plug change. And only use the Motorcraft oil filter.

I have a 2004 FX4 with the 5.4 with 100K. Worst vehicle I have ever owned! Problems on a weekly basis. I have spent more in repairs that the truck cost new. Long time ford owner, and ford supporter, but everyone I know that has a 2004 regrets getting it.
2007 FX4 56K miles. Lives in salt air and on salty roads....literally not one problem so far. I do oil changes every 5K religiously to play it safe, never beat on it, don't drive it like a Stang, go easy on her off road in 4x4, and follow the service manual. Not bad for a work truck that's used everyday. Love my Ford.

2006 XLT 58k Miles. Drives a lot on salty roads...... literally not one problem so far. I do oil changes every 4k religiously to play it safe, beat on it a-lot, drive it like a Stang, off-road it like it's a 84 bronco, and follow the service manual. Not bad for a daily driver.....
Knocks on wood....
