Default Anyone have K&N Performance Intake

Was looking for some extra power and get up and up go. Saw this would give you both. Does anyone have one or had one? Opinions?

I have a "K&N 63-2583 AirCharger Performance Air Intake System" on my 2013 EcoBoost. It was an easy install. It was the first thing I did that could be a 'performance' part. It didn't do a whole lot but it probably helps once you start stacking other bolt on performace stuff, like cat-back or programmer.

The next thing I did, just last weekend, was added an SCT x4 with a 93 octane 5* custom tune thru Stage3Motorsports. Once I did the tune it was a world of difference!

The K&N looks cool, installs easy, sounds a little different, but I don't think it gave me much more HP/torque/mpg. Hope this helps.

Your dollars will be much better spent on a tuner.
Edge Evo or SCT are the most popular for our trucks.
The Edge on mine made it a different vehicle. More fun to drive and much better git up.

Where did you find information about advancing the timing? I'd be afraid to play with that too much. Wouldn't want to trash the engine because I pulled something dumb :-)

I have the K&N intake. Again it was my first mod. Not much HP until the higher rpm. I found I got more engine noise than performance. I also have 85mm BBK throttle body (stock is 80mm), gibsons shorty headers, highflow cats, true dual borla type S with Xpipe and a custom tune by MPT performance. The exhaust, bigger throttle body and custom tune are the best in my opinion. I notice a difference all 3 times

Dealer informed me that the oil impregnated filters. Such as k&n, will cause your injectors I need cleaning more frequently.

Lol!! Are you sure that's what he said? Because it is just not possible.....At all!

They can pepper your MAF if they are over oiled, and maybe get the throttle body a little oily, but that's a human error issue.. Just use the oil sparingly and you will be fine.. Dry flow media filters are a little more user friendly to maintain.

Just use your stock filter. Your not gonna gain anything noticeable on a stock engine
