Default Anyone have this happen

2008 F150 with 57,000km (35,000 miles) new battery

In the morning with the temperature at -25C (-13 F ) the truck will not turn over. All appears normal, the lights, radio and heater fan all come on, but the starter will not engage. I play with the key a few times turning it on and off and bingo she cranks but again no start. I do this several times and she finally cranks enough to start. After this all is normal and she runs fine. This only takes place in the extreme cold.

Just because its a new battery doesn't mean it didn't sit on the shelf for a few years. I would check to get your battery tested. You need the most CCA's that you can get.

CCA are rated at 0 degrees, so if you live in a colder environment, your battery has less power than it is rated for.

For what it is worth I had a similar issue. All seemed to work fine electrically with the truck but no crank. Then I could here the starter try and turn but stop once it engaged the flywheel. My truck is 10 years old and has 237,000 miles on it. Turned out the eyelet on the positive cable to the starter was corroded and almost rusted through. Spliced on a new eyelet and everything was fine. Worth a crawl under to check.
