Any thoughts on the new commercial for the synthetic oil?

Of course we're all free to do what we choose, but that doesn't mean there won't be consequences for our choices

Are you trying to say you don't like it dripping all over your arm especially the filter in these trucks with the catch tray or whatever they call it. The dumbest design I have ever seen. Paper towels, plastic bags, nothing works in that filter area and without fail I always flip out when changing the filter. Just when I think I got it all it leaves a nice puddle after sitting after the change. I want to slap a Ford engineer for that design. Gear fluid is the worse and its a smell you will never forget especially when you spill some in your garage. That being said I just can't make the jump to letting someone else do it

My neighbor works for J&J and says with the new clear coats you don't have to wax your truck either. I don't think so. The sun alone damages every coating known to man. Look at shutters and siding. I used to be the 3,000 guy and just seeing how dark it is when it comes out is enough to change it more often. Just my oppinion

Dark, even black oil doesn't necessarily mean anything other than the additives in the oil are doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing. It can be completely black without impeding the oil's lubricating properties.

Use the recommended oil and stay within within the recommended OCI and it's fine.

Oil will get dark after heat. It does not mean it has "gone south". If you're concerned with how your oil is doing, send it off to a lab and have it checked to see if your interval is working.

Simple though. If your using non synthetic, change it every 3K, If your using a synthetic blend, you can go up to 5K (depending on your driving/towing). If you use the full synthetics, you can go 7500 miles between oil changes. If you buy full synthetics and change every 3K, your tossing money away; buy the synthetic blends.

Yep, I know dark or black doesn't mean its bad. I guess I meant to say it adds to the element of getting dirty when changing it

Definitely less gross changing clean oil, but that can get expensive. I went through a lot of oil in my race bikes!

Last time, I only got my finger tips dirty when I let the drain plug fall. Ive just learned to be very patient with the filter. I rarely ever spill any when removing it. Maybe it's bc I have a 2wd?

Ya, what about those of us like me who do 25-30K miles a year. Just don't think I'd trust it that long.

This is a commercial geared toward ignorant people that want to feel good about neglecting their engines. Makes me never want to buy used again.
