Antenna question?

Is the little wire that's attached/wrapped around the antenna for an xm radio type receiver? '08 F150 Thanks, gary.

It gives you AM/FM stations!

It creates air turbulence around the antenna. Without it, the antenna creates a whistling sound that's often audible from within the cab.

Thanks, that does make sense. The same thing is on the new '09 VW Rabbit my wife has. I just get curious about stuff sometimes.
