Another Crank But No Start.....Tested/Read Everything!
Hey everyone I've come to the last resort of opening another cranks but no start issue thread. I'm hoping to just get some ideas to bounce off of to see what else I could test.
Here is where I'm at:
- Replaced the fuel pump control module (December 2015)
- Replaced fuel filter (September 2016)
- Replaced cam shaft position sensor (both - August 2016)
- Replaced crank shaft position sensor (August 2016)
I tested the fuel pump immediately during a no start issue and unhook the line from the rear of the fuel filter. Turn the key to accessory and it pumps plenty of fuel out as it should. So I ruled out that the fuel pump is going bad/not getting power.
Here's the catch. As soon as I hook the line back up to the fuel filter the truck will fire right up.
Doesn't make sense......Is there a check valve in the fuel lines that it might be getting vapor locked and that's why its not starting?
During the no crank it smells of fuel so I know it's getting fuel pumping through the the fuel pump.
Any help is greatly appreciated...or the next time it starts the truck might be going to the dealership.
Thanks!

Double and triple checked that when I was messing around with it ha. Yes it is installed with the arrow facing the right way.
Why I'm thinking it is getting vapor locked is because when I do unhook the fuel like there isn't much in the line that runs out. When the truck is shut off does fuel pressure remain in the line or does it die off?
Thinking it dies off normally which is why the fuel pump has to kick on for a second right?

I was wondering if there was a pressure sensor or something that wasn't getting pressure past the fuel filter. I'll check the fuel rail pressure sensor.
I did replace the crankshaft positioning sensor already. What a pain that was....

Thats why I wish they had not done away with schrader valve on fuel rail
I have even thought some one would make a adapter under fuel rail pressure sensor to put a schrader valve . It would be so handy . If I was a machinist I would make my own .
This problem seems like its the fuel pressure sensor but they aren't cheap . I also had connection problems on the fuel demand module connector the sand rolled the gasket and it was an intermittent connection . I went back and forth with the old module and the new one until i pulled that gasket out of the connector .
