Alternator Seized
Hey everyone, long story short, had medical issues, wasn't allowed to drive, truck sat for a bit, now I think my alternator seized.
Truck was hard to start but figured it could be anything, eventually it started. there was a bit of smoke and burning smell. I now know that it was the belt.
all the pulley's spun fine except for alternator. put a ratchet on it to try and free it up manually. It did seem to give a little, but i dont know if it will loosen up enough.
i have an 07 4.2, changing it looks easy enough, just the 3 bolts on top, and a new belt.
Is there a more reliable brand for the alternator and belt?
What are the torque specs for the bolts?
Am I going to have problems with the bit of melted rubber on other pulleys?
