Airbag Code 42
So my father has a 2005 F150. Browsing the forum the code showed it was the front impact sensor. He replaced the sensor, spliced in a new connector, and cleaned the mounting bracket and ground bolt. The light still intermittently comes on. Any ideas where to look next?

Hello,
I am having the same problem (2008 Lariat). Have the airbag code 42. Changed the sensor and pigtail on the front of the radiator. Cleaned the bolt, inside hole (with wire .22 gun brush) and all surface areas. Still have the airbag code 42. I have disconnected the negative and disconnected both the positive and negative and touched both together trying to clear the code. No luck. Any ideas where to look next or someone have a similar problem?
Also I have a code B1318 (low bat voltage) and P2296 (Restraint System Impact Sensor). I'm told if the problem is fixed the RCM does not have to be reset. Not sure if I have to reset the RCM at a dealership or not.
I have reseated the front impact sensor and pulled the plugs on the RCM and reconnected them. Only other thing is the RCM or a broken wire to the impact sensor somewhere. At a loss now.
