Default Air intake silencer removal?

I wanna remove the silencers on the air intake on my 2005 f150 5.4 v8. I'm j/w how I should plug the holes after I was just gonna get black duct tape/electrical tape. And I'd like a straight yes or no does it improve gas mileage, or power. Also does it add a sound like a throttle body spacer, or what's it sound like?

Hmm this is a cool idea, I haven't heard of to many people doing this. That being said I think if it did improve gas mileage and power it would probably be so slight you wouldn't notice it. However it might improve throttle response. Can't comment on the sound difference though.

I think if you went on the Gotts Mod thread you would see several examples of cutting it off. I think some left a little bit of the tube and put some kind of caps on them.

It may make a bit more noise i guess. I dont see how you could get 0.001 mpg more with that, but if you dont care about noise, it will give you more space and you may be able to change the oil filter without taking the air duct first, which can improve your time to change the oil in maybe a 5% ...

Straight answer: no it doesn't improve power. Might add a little sound, but it comes in the form of resonance more than anything.

I been researching this stuff for months, if any of the gotts mod post answered my questions about noise and how to plug the holes I wouldn't be here. And removing the silencers isn't the gotts mod guy. And PLEASE only post if you can answer at least one of those questions. On a side note look how hot Jessica Simpson is!!!
