I put a K&N in mine, it was $40, but its the last one I'll ever need to buy for the truck.
Trick is, after 50,000 miles when you clean it, is to make sure when you re-oil it you do NOT put to much on. If you do itll suck the extra up and coat your intake sensors.
But I've been using the K&N for 13 years and never had that problem. I did know a guy who did but he was constantly clean his out, at least every 3 months, and he over oiled it and also was constantly cleaning his MAF. Some people don't realize that you can just put them in and almost forget about them, I schedule cleaning of mine with my tranny fluid changes.
BTW 50,000 mile cleaning is for the severe duty cycle of the filter, if your not in that catagory it recomends 100,000 cleanings.

I bought a no name reusable filter on ebay for $18 shipped when I first bought my truck.

It was cheaper than buying two paper filters and now since Ive used the K&N cleaning/oiling kit you cant tell its not a K&N because its now purple from using the kit.

Go with a regular paper filter, Motorcraft, Wix, etc. Flows more than enough and has better filtration than any aftermarket filter.
