Air bag light??
Take it to the dealer, I crashed tested for 20 years . You have an issue with one of the bags and it more than likely will not deploy if needed. Believe me you dont want to deal with this thing unless you know what you are doing .
Read the code and it will give you an idea. Turn the key, count the number of blinks, then there's a two second pause, then count the remaining blinks. The code will repeat a few times. The first set of blinks is the first digit of the error code and the second set is the second digit. In my case it was 5 blinks, pause, 1 blink (ie. Code 51). Turned out to be a bad seatbelt pretensioner. Cost $100 and I replaced it myself. The airbag module is easy to replace if needed too. Just disconnect the battery and the airbag fuse and let it sit a few minutes. No need to take it to the dealer. They wanted $75 to read the code, the part was $130, and would have charged me $75 for an hour of labor. Read the code and save yourself the cash.
Don't worry about the airbag deploying for no reason, it will not deploy if you hit something while that light is on though.

Not to rag on you, but in those 20 years of testing you surely must have bumped your head! This forum is here to help those willing to help themselves. there are all sorts of threads about the air bag light. Knowledge is power. If all else fails, then take it to the stealership!
Really?

determine the problem. I wouldnt fix it my self and I used to test them! But I guess you would prefer to fool around with it and possibly risk the safety of you or your friends or family. Its not gonna be that much money versus the bag not deploying when it should. And have you ever seen an air bag deploy when it wasnt supposed too? Were not talking about doing a brake job pal!Chances are its the control module.Got any of those laying around?
As stated, count the flashes and post back. It could be as simple as the center dash light (above radio) that warns against the passenger seat disengauged. If that bulb is bad, the airbag light will come on.
Did you recently change the radio out or remove its trim piece?

mabe check the seat plugs ??
a buddy of mine was saying his light was on and the power seat did not work so i checked under the seat and the plug for that seat had come undone
he has had the truck for three years and the seat had never been taken out so it just worked its way unpluged in the three years LOL
have a look you never know it could be that easy

Think what you want , Im assuming he hasnt drilled in to the truck anywhere or unplugged anything, so in my short time of experience dealing with airbags I would suggest taking it to a dealer that has the proper diagnostics equipment to

I can understand your safety concerns.
"Chances its the control module" How do you figure? I mean really? You want to send the guy into a dealership to get jacked for $50- $75 to tell him the code? He can count the flashes for free. It could be as simple as the airbag light wire. Come on. Why are you trying to scare this guy into going straight to the dealer? Stop with the douchery and help the guy out!
Didnt know there was a certain protocol for giving advice here. That was my opinion , you dont have to take the advice or you can Im not forcing anyone to do squat . Just offering my advice and i get this crap, if the OP wants to fiddle with the safety systems or anyone else for that matter then go ahead. I wouldnt hesitate to work on anything on my truck that I have the right tools and knowledge to work with. Its my opinion that very few people have that for safety restraints. Sure you can dig around and find what you might need, but in the long run what would be cheaper and when it comes down to it would you really put your safety out there . Would you want a chiropractor to perform laser surgery on your eyes even though he could go on a forum and learn what hes trying to do?Good Luck
