Default advice to for engine?

My truck seems to be running lean! When I accelerate, it stalls for about a second and then go's faster. This only happens when I want to go faster to pass a car. Also the engine seems to make like a breathing noise until I shifts to 4th! So any ideas to make my truck run like New? I can't even burn tire if I wanted to! Throw me some ideas to switch, part wise.

Also check the foam around the airfilter box. If its worn away, get some weather stripping from lowes and reseal around the box.

How do you know it is running lean? A hesitation and then going is not a lean sign. This could be the drive by wire?

Do you have a code reader?
What mods, if any, have been done?
How often is oil changed, what oil is used?
What air filter is used?
Have you cleaned the throttle body?
Have you cleaned the maf?
Have you changed your fuel filter?
Have you changed wheel size?

I would suggest cleaning the maf and tb, fuel filter, if using an oily filter, throw it away and pop a paper element back in. Try to calibrate the TPS as well, there is/was a sticky here on that. Also try to clear the KAM.

No code reader, no mods done, oil gets changed every 3,000 miles with motorcraft 5w-30, I think its a tsp air filter, and I haven't cleaned the maf or throttle body, and havent changed out the fuel filter. I got some new tires but its stock tires
