adding steering wheel controls

Default adding steering wheel controls

i was looking into changing my cruise control to also have radio controls. has anyone done this? what part number do i need? and now hard is it, is it just plug and play?

I don't know for sure but i'd guess that you would have to change the wire harness in the truck and all the components on the column and of coarse the steering wheel. a lot of work and $$$

I heard somewhere from someone and this could be a buch if bull,but he told me,gm is the only american brand of car/suv/truck allowed to do that as they have a patent on that.Just what i have heard.If thats true indeed,that means you probly wont be able to find interechangable parts from a gm to a ford stearing collum.Like i said thoe,thats just what i have heard.Waiting for atom to chime in on this also as he would know better than me,also waiting for bucko.

would need wiring harness, and new steering wheel. Never heard anything about GM

it possible, i have seen it done. i am sure it's quite simple, just get a wiring diagram and start chasing wires.
