Default Adding front tow hooks to an 08 Limited

My daughter and I hauled her horse to an event a few weeks back, and the grounds were a muddy mess. Lots of trucks had to be pushed/pulled from the muck. I got lucky and didn't need help...this time. It got me thinking: can I put tow hooks on the front of my truck by removing the current lower valance (pictured below) and replacing it with one from a 4x4, and add hooks? I saw a few trucks being pushed out by the tractor bumper contacting the horse trailer. I don't want to risk that. Thanks.

Yep, you can.

That valance is just held on with a bunch of bolts and clips.

Get the 4wd tow hook version, paint it to match, and install chrome tow hooks.

It will look great.

You other option is to just cut the holes in the valance.

You sure can, I did it on my truck. Just remove the 2wd valance, or if you are money savvy cut out the areas for the the tow hooks to come through. Fish the bolts through the frame and attach the tow hooks. took me about an hour because I replaced my valance with a 4wd one.

Just had another idea for your tow hook needs.

Mount/weld a tow point hidden in the lower bumper area.

There are frame mounting points in that area, I used them to mound my LED bar.

You could use them to mound a heavy duty steal bar, on that bar, add a place to attach a d-ring shackle.

Problem is my current valance is so low that any tow point hidden behind it will hook to such a height that the tight rope/chain will contact the lower valance and damage it.

Here's the stock part:

BUT, I think this one would match your truck better:

Bringing this back from the dead. I'm looking for OEM tow hooks now. Found tons of them on ebay for 09-14 trucks. Will the newer ones work on my 08?

I am pretty sure they are the exact same. the ones on my buddy's 2011 are the same as my 05 and I don't think the frame is any differently. there were only slight changes to the 09- frames

The mounts look the same, but the 04-08's hook looks longer. It's hard to confirm, though.
