Adding a drivers door keypad for keyless key pad entry?
I picked up a 2006 F-150 XLT CrewCab. The truck has a factory keychain FOB remote (3 button) that works just fine. Lock/Unlocks door, honks horn when locking, flashing light on the drivers dash board, etc…
I pulled the backseats off and there is a keyless entry module bolted to the back wall of the cab behind the carpeted cover. AND it has a 5-digit number printed on the sticker.
This truck did NOT come with a keypad on the drivers door handle.
Ok… here’s my question…
Since this truck came with the wireless remote and seemingly has all the stuff I need. Is it as simple as finding the right part numbers and adding…
1. The proper door handle with the holes for the keypad
2. The proper keypad for this truck.
3. Simply swapping out old plain door handle with new keypad door handles?
Will there be a wiring harness inside the drivers door awaiting a keypad to be plugged up?
And that’s it?
No programming. No forscan stuff. Just Plug ’n Play?

I found the answer by doing what I should have done first... searching the forum.
Thanks for those who were coming.
ANSWER:
Yes, the truck is pre-wired in the door. Just need to remove the grey dust cap.
Yes, it should be plug & play with no programming needed.
I just need to find the right keypad for this year/model truck.
Google is my friend.

Just be sure the connector pins have same number of pins/wires to mate up to your particular option. For instance, If you have a 5 pin and you plug in a 6 wire ( yes the plugs will mate up) your door pad will work but it'll cancel out your remote receiver under the dash. You may want to use your VIN to get the exact fit. Congrats on your new truck.
Hi Shannon, sorry that I have no answer for you, but a question instead. Can I ask what do you mean by "Just need to remove the grey dust cap"? Do you mean the wire plug is there? which grey dust cap is it? And where can you get the door handle with keypad?
Thanks.
Thanks.

OK.... the job is done.
And YES it truly is plug-n-play.
1. I did not need any programming, computer work, dealership, nothing. I did it in my driveway. I didn't even disconnect my battery.
2. I just ordered the 2 parts I listed above (door handle from Amazon and keypad from Ford parts website) and that was it.
3. Be careful when removing that linkage to the door locks. It's finicky and you do not want to drop that down in the door. go slow, use ducktape to hold it up and in place as you swap out the door handles.
4. You can throw away the little round grey dust cap. Your new keypad plugs in in its place.
5. As soon as you plug it in, it begins to work.
I now have a working door handle keypad for my 2006 F-150 that looks factory. The 5 digit code on my box behind the back seats worked just fine.
