Default Acceleration issues

Can't accelerate past around 35-40 mph. I hear a popping sound on drivers side and smell what could be burning plastic or rubber. I can have petal to the metal and it stalls but you can hear the engine revving. I do not think it is an engine or transmission problem. Possibly fuel pump? When I shift into park and back into drive it resets. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

We had a Monte Carlo years ago with top speed of 35 - 45 mph. Replacing the catalytic converter fixed it.

Get your DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) read at your local auto parts store and report back. Excessive driving with your symptoms will damage your truck.
