Default Ac works randomly

2005 f150 LARIAT with auto climate control....AC will work in each day but if I drive it for a period of time (like maybe an hour?) it will just start to feel like warmer air is starting to make it's presence in the cab. Nothing I do with the selector settings will change the temp. I can control fan speeds, turn on the heater if I wish by raising the temp and then back down to normal temp settings like 70`ish degrees, but no cold air. If I turn off the truck for a while like 2 hrs or so, the ac will not blow cold air nor does the compressor kick in. BUT if I let it sit over night, the very next morning the air is cold until I run it for a while and the same happens again. Is it a Hi or Low pressure switch? I"m open to suggestions. Thanks OH and running over bumps in the road does not effect the ac compressor engagement of the clutch.

Check the clutch gap first.

This.

I had the exact same symptoms you described with my 06 Lariat. I checked the gap when the engine was cold and it was OK. After the truck was driven for a while the gap was just a fraction beyond the limit. I removed the clutch hub and removed one shim closest to the thickness I was out of spec with when the engine was hot.

Now I have nice cold air back.

I fixed it. It had only one shim, so I removed it and ran the truck pretty much all day with no issues. I sure do thank you all for the advice and help, Thank You!!

Check BOTH your low and high pressures. I've seen similar when I accidentally over-charged a system

The OP's stated symptoms were not consistent with how an overcharged system would behave.
