Howdy yall, the past couple of months my ABS light has been coming on randomly. It comes on after several minutes (or hours sometimes) of driving then stays on. I wrote it off as a bad sensor but now, even when under light braking, if I hit even a small bump in the road, I can feel the ABS activating in the pedal. Seems like more than a sensor to me. I know I have a front wheel bearing going out but how would that be related?

I think you're on the right track.

If the bearing is hot, then the ABS sensor might be messed up. A short in the wiring is possible, too, but that's supposed to throw a diagnostic code.

How about checking the ABS sensor electrical connector itself? Not sure if that would throw a code, but maybe it's cracked or loose? The sensor cable, which includes the sensor, is not too much $$.

Replaced the rotor hub assemblies on both sides and still the light. I took extra care to clean the metal shavings off the sensors, etc. and it still comes in. Electrical connections LOOK good but I'm not sure how to tell otherwise. How can I diagnose which of the 3 sensors is causing the issue?

 

Have you had anyone check the codes?

Mine did pretty the same thing as yours did so I bought and replaced the one they found to be bad. I ordered it off Amazon.com for something like $112 and that included shipping. Everyone else was much higher.

 

Only 3 abs sensors 2 up front and 1 in the rear end. Get what code its throwing and it will most likely be the sensor.

 

I finally got Advance to pull the codes and got C1145 and C1297, both of which point to the right front ABS sensor. Are left and right interchangeable? Before I buy a replacement I may swap sides and see if the codes change. Thanks,
