could i get basic lights and just wire them into the trailer tow harness for reverse so they would turn on when i shift into Park.

You want back-up lights that come on when the truck is in park?

You could splice into the wire that controls the truck's running lights. Then you could run a wire, with a switch on it, so that you could turn them on/off as you need them.

 

you need to run a power witre back with a relay to turn them on, because the backup circut cant handle the power.
