Default 87 vs 93

2006 F150 Lariat
50k miles
Borla exhaust
Diablosport Predator tuner
Gotts mod 3" air intake with k&n filter

So I just bought the exhaust and tuner and I'm very pleased with both. The exhaust could be a bit louder but the sound quality is excellent. I was shocked at the power I got from the tuner. I used a stock tune listed K&N 87 performance tune. The truck seems to run great on it. However I'm currious about switching to 93 octane gas and the K&N 93 performance tune. I was told by Diablosport that I would get more power from doing this but they could say if it would effect the truck in any negative way. I had a mechanic tell me that since I've been using 87 octane for 50k miles that he wouldn't reccommend switching. He says it could put stress on the motor. Any mechanics/gear heads that can proove him right or wrong?? If there's no harm I can do by switching, then I'd rather run the 93 and get more power. Any and all info is greatly appreciated

I've never heard of higher octane hurting an engine, and I worked for ford for 3 years. If anything you might find your fuel mileage drops a bit however.
The PCM in the truck will automatically adjust timing to compensate for the different fuel.

I have a SCT X3 with Troyer custom tunes on my 07 with 46,000 on it. My 93 performance tune runs way better then my 87 performance. I only run 93 now and get the same MPG's.

The mechanic who's telling me not to? Thanks for the advice. I was planning on switching just didn't want to take a chance at damaging anything
