5w-30 oil in the 5.4 3v a good idea?

Ok, so there has been a massive update to the VCT solenoids this year. The body's are now machined differently and the new addition of a check valve on the oil inlet port has seemed to quiet the "tick" to the point of non existence...
I know it kinda sucks that ford keeps silently slipping fixes for their engineering follies onto the market, but this time I think they finally nailed it. The latest VCT solenoid is the best one to date, it will silence noisy phasers that are ticking, but are still in good shape... If you need tensioners, and phasers due to seal failure and excessive wear, then popping in the new solenoids should tell you right away that you do or don't need to go through with the full timing set rebuild procedure...
I've personally thought my driver side phaser was "worn" more then my passenger side, and assumed it would require a replacement at some point. Well upon installing the latest VCT solenoid I discovered that this is not the case. Now all my phasers are silent and my injector ticking is the only thing I can honestly say I hear now.
The difference in the solenoids is very obvious. In the pictures below you will see what I mean.....
From left to right..
Left = newest solenoid that silences tick
Middle = 2nd revision of solenoid that quiets tick
Right = OE solenoid that ticks like mad. (Pictured is my DIY revised version)
The difference is very clear. The new addition of the check valve on the left solenoid is what has been the solution to silencing the "phaser tick".
Don't buy any other solenoid except for this one^^^ part #... 8L3Z-6M280-B
Notice how that piece of metal moves inward when depressed... This is the check valve at the oil inlet port to the VCT solenoid...
This procedure is very easy... Pics here http://www.f150forum.com/f4/5w-30-oi...30457/index12/
Tools required:
8mm socket wrench (for power steering reservoir.
Flat head screw driver
T27 6 inch long driver ONE PIECE CONSTRUCTION ONLY!
New solenoids......part #... 8L3Z-6M280-B
New seals
Pry up on the seals with your flat head screwdriver to remove them.
Put your T27 driver down into the valve cover and loosen the VCT hold down bolt.
Remove your solenoid and replace it with the new one...
On the drivers side the power steering reservoir is in the way. You will need that 8mm socket to remove the reservoir bolts. Once the bolts are removed, lay your reservoir on the fan shroud and get that drivers side finished up...
Tap the seals into place with either a large socket or a 1/2 dowel shaped object...
Now head to the nearest drive through and enjoy the silence!!!!!!

Well, hold the phone for a minute. I just pulled my passenger side solenoid out. Whoever it was that designed that solenoid to valve cover seal needs shot. There is no way to get that thing out without destroying it. I'll have to buy another now.
As far as the solenoid, mine is the newest style. It does have the reed valve. I would have bought these in very early January. I just looked and the number printed on the black plastic is 8L3E-6B297-AB. I cannot reference this number anywhere on the internet as a Ford part number. I don't know if that number matches what was on the package or not.
So, this is the newest style of solenoid and yet it has not solved my diesel at idle sound. Now, the engine sounds like a very quiet diesel, and at anything above idle the sound is completely gone, but it is there at hot idle (not cold idle).

Otherwise you may have a worn phaser which no solenoid will cure...
