Default $5 AC drain fix

Unfortunately I found out about the problem late in the game. Rubber floors don't show water underneath.

I know the dealership sells the elbow to fix this, but the closest one to me is about 40 minutes or so and I'm a cheap lol. So I found this at AutoZone for $5 and it fits nice and snug.

How the heck did you get this on??? I just bought it... removed the wheel well and all, and cannot for the life of me get it to go over the tube. I've tried every trick, but I must be missing something. Any tips?

One trick you can try is to heat the end in hot water to make it flexible . That is done on irrigation hoses esp the drip system small lines .Maybe some grease also ..

Ok, so I tried every way possible... and still couldn't get it... UNTIL.... I had a brilliant idea and got it within seconds. Here you go:

  • Step 1: Heat up elbow as described by everyone; boil for about 10 mins.
  • Step 2: Make a nice long extension by connecting every single 3/8 or 1/4 drive extension you have in your tool box. Finish with a 5/16 (1/4" drive) deep socket.

  • Step 3: Get some light on the drain tube so you can see what you're doing...

  • Step 4: Spray 5/16 socket and elbow with silicone lubricant. Insert boiling hot elbow on end of extension. And then here's the money maker.... On the side where it mates with the drain tube; roll it back over itself.

  • Step 5: Lying under the truck, position the elbow so it's flush with the drain tube... then use your other hand to reach around up top and unroll the elbow over the drain tube.

Boom. Done. Hope this helps someone.
