5.4L Triton 2wd slow off the line?
So I have a 2008 XLT 2wd 5.4 triton and all I have on it is a a Flowmaster 40 series and a 2.5 inch leveling kit with 33's and yesterday I raced my friend and his 2003 1500 silverado stock truck and his truck beat me! It seemed like it jumped off the line much faster and accelerated much faster. So how do I get mine to jump off the line faster? It seems with my bigger tires that the shifting is weird, when floor it the engine hits about 4000-4500 rpms before shifting and the gears are stock so I'm assuming they are 4.10 but i don't really know. But what can I do to make it faster and have more torque?

Well, going with a bigger tire is akin to running less gear, which equals less acceleration.
Not to mention weight added. This makes you slower.
Want to accelerate faster? New ring and pinion, or boost. Not much else isworth much.

If you do want to go faster, ditch the Flowmaster and go with a stright through muffler like MagnaFlow or Banks. Get yourself a good programmer (this usually solves your issues right up front). Cold air intakes are good but only with a programmer. And then if you do decide to regear, take a gander at your rear dif and find out what your stock gears are back there, but I would be willing to bet they are 3.55's. From there you might want to read up some gear threads on here and ask around and see what others have done. Hope this all helps out.

Talking about racing on this forum is prohibited, unless you can prove you are on a track.....with that said, my 07 SCREW with the 5.4 and 3.55 gears is consistently running 6 second flat 0-60 (last run was 5.96 but the Edge rounded it up) times according to my Edge Evolution. Only other mods are true duals with some no-name turbo mufflers and the Gotts mod. I replaced all plugs, filters, and COP's recently. I am running 285/50/20 tires.
