Looking for some info on 05's 5.4 engines. Mine runs fine, except when I go to pass. It does it on the flat and going uphill. It just gets very sluggish, almost like it is bogged down. The RPM's rev up for a few seconds but I just don't pick up speed during these few seconds. It is serviced regular and has 56,000 miles. Second question is the yellow engine light comes on, this is the one that is an outline of a engine. I checked the gas cap (Jeeps are famous for this and it sets off the same idiot light) and had my mechanic put it on the scanner. A code comes up for The code that comes up is a generic one is is able to be reset, but comes back on after sometime. He checked service bulletins and the only thing he found is something related to one of the cats or O2 sensor that gives a similiar code. Anyone else ever have this problems. Sorry a little long and yes I searched before posting.

 

have a diagnostic run at the dealer, it should be able to pull the code of exactly what is wrong, even if the light comes on and off, it still can be pulled, unless it was reset. but if and when it does it again, take it to the dealer, there diagnostics are way more precise than the average mechanic has. it can tell what 02 sensor is outta range, throwing the CEL, or if it's not will show which ones are close to outta spec

 

I know that autozone can hook up a computer and pull the exact code for you too free of charge. Hope this helps

 

i hav the same prob with mine. if im passing sum1 or even goin up any size hill, it down shifts and revs the rpms way up and is slugish for a few seconds. it kinda annoying it does it even on the smallest hills. is this cuz my rpms are to low when im driving 70 or what? and if i add a programmer to get some extra horespower will this help stop this?
