Is it just me or what, but I think all these 5.4 3 valve engines have a slight diesel sound at idle. I mean if you get out and listen to them with the hood open, they just have a unique sound to their own. What do you guys all think?

 

Cam phasers?

 

No it's not cam phasers, I think these motors are just naturally noisy a bit.

 

Yes. They have more injector noise and top end sound then other makes. You will know a phaser noise when you hear it.

 

Very true, you definitely won't be sneaking up on anyone in the middle of the night with one of these motors. Haha
