Default 5.4 milage question

Ok I bought my wife a 08 cobalt LT 4 door brand new last year. It has 18,000 miles on it right now. We just had a baby and the car is just not big enough. My dad has a 04 F150 5.4 with 146k on it. The tranny was rebuilt at 80k. The truck has ever ounce of maintance work and oil changes etc, since it was new. It doesnt use a drop of oil, smoke nothing what so ever. I am looking into trading him my car for his truck. I have paid the car the cobalt off. But I just dont want to get something that the motor is gonna go out in the next 60k miles. My question is, if a 5.4 has been taken care of what is typically the life expectancy. This truck holds 3/4 of the way up on the gauge. Honestly you would think its a brand new truck. TIA Trey

Is this the 2004 5.4L 2 valve or the 2004.5 5.4L 3 valve? (Pre or Post restyle?)

The most I have ever seen on one is 217k. It was actually for sale on Autotrader not too long ago. The engine will last forever as long as it was taken care of. The average life expectancy for a gasoline engine is 200-250k and a diesel will run 400-450k. You should be good for a long while as long as you take just as good care of it, if not better, than your dad did. Don't cheap out on oils or filters. Don't cheap out on gas brands just to save a few dollars. Not to say you have to baby it, but you do have to pick your "life fluids" carefully if you intend on running it to the brink.

Its always had motorcraft 5 20 and a motorcraft filter since it was new. Its always gone to the dealer for all the oil changes and maintance. I took it on a 6 hr road trip and it ran absolutely perfect and had no problem doing 90 mph.

Cool 1999 Ford 150

Hi Guys,
I have a 1999 150 which runs great.I have serviced it with oil/filter changes on a regular basis. It has only 13,000 milkes on it.When is it time to replace the timing belt?
Thanks for any other suggestions.
