Default 5.4 Horrible Idle Shake

So my truck has bad cam phasers and bad chains tens. While its cold and in park it idles good still shakes but it's not as bad. In gear you don't feel it shake at all. Now when it's hot it's a total different story. You could look over at the pass seat and the whole thing is shaking violently. You could also feel the motor rocking back and forth, and I swear one time I could feel the truck rocking back and forth. Mind you while it's doing this it's knocking very loudly and also ticking loudly. In gear it's not as bad but still shakes bad. Are the cam phasers really the cause of this? I looked at the power balance and the cylinders are not in a Line like they should be so I'm assuming timing is off but what's the deal here? Plugs and coils have been changed.

Certainly could be part of it. You're not gonna know until you start fixing things.

Remember when you asked this question in your other post "Also how long can I go before something goes completely bad?"? Well not to be a dick, but you need to fix this engine instead of worrying about door rattles and front end sag. It's your truck and your decisions, but if it were me I'd fix it. You can't expect it to get better, it only gets worse. These engines run like crap when the guides are broken and the valve timing is off... that's the deal.

Default I agree fix it now

^ good advice .
$1400 or so to do complete fix or $7500 for reman . You have come to the end ,soon only a reman will work .
I wouldn't think you could sell it for much at this point . This fix is not that hard . Good luck

Our cam phaser noise repair kit could be right up your alley with this issue. I would also make sure that your phasers, guide, tensioners and chains are not damaged as well. They could very well be if the shaking is as violent as you claim.

Default Solution

Just posting a solution that sort of fixed the problem. Was the phasers and tensioners. Still has a rough idle that maybe a injector issue.

Its nice for others popping up with similar troubles to see your fix . Everyone is cost conscious so if you saved money and then have to go back in its a learning curve for them too.
Do you feel you saved it from destruction? Did you look at the cams and lash adjusters. Did you use stock tensioners? Would you recommend new vcts and cleaning vct housings . Did you have broken guides and clean out the pan.
