4x4 wiring diagram
Anyone care to share a wiring diagram on the electrically controlled 4x4 system? I have searched and not found one. I have the **** on the dash that has 2H 4H and 4L.
I'm having intermittent issues with it working.

Most likely your IWE solenoid located on the fire wall behind your battery...

I think my IWE stuff is working for now. From what I can tell it has something to do with the switch, computer logic, and or the positioning signals from the shift motor. But I can't figure how everything is interconnected. Seems like the computer controls power to the 4x4 relays not the switch... A wiring diagram would sort out a lot of the guess work.
(4x4 works 9 out of 10 times then once it stops it doesn't work again no matter how many times I try.) I have tested both 4x4 relays under hood they were fine but I replaced them anyway. I can jump power on the front relay and the t case motor will shift all the way into 2L so i don't think the motor is sticking.
---(This was the only way I got home when it first happened. It left me stuck in the snow in the mountains miles from anywhere temps going near 0 that night. and had my wife and 1yr old with me. I tried everything to get it going. Hand checked every single fuse in the box swapped around relays and fuses, Disconnected battery for 30 min to reset computer. Ended up jumping that front relay and by luck that worked so I left it jumped while drove my tail out of there! Anyway going to a remote island at the beach in June so don't want to go through this ordeal again. I want to find the problem for certain. Not just replace a part an think its fixed.

"Water can get into the solenoid and short it out. This can set some codes (follow the TSB link) and may cause the 4Hi and 4Low lights to be inoperative."
But I tested the solenoid and I think it is ok? I can feel the solenoid click when I have my wife turn the key on. And it reads 78 ohms across it. (not sure what it should be??) Also I don't see any codes on my reader.
Going to do some more trouble shooting tonight.

Well I should have known I had more problems than I thought....
So First up neither side was disengaging in 2h with engine running...: and I couldn't feel any vacuum pulling at either wheel hub and very weak vacumm at solenoid. So turns out that the check valve thingy right before to the solenoid was clogged with fine dirt...
There was about twice this amount that I dumped out. Ended up washing it under the sink faucet. and made sure I could blow through it. I think this is actually a filter??? (i could blow through in both directions, so if it is a check valve it is bad.)
Now I had good vacuum at both wheels... Driverside was disengaging now, but passenger side was still not. So I noticed that it was pulling vacuum through the vent port so guess it is bad diafram / seal inside the IWE. It will need replacing... SIGH
