Default 4x4 will not disengage, can anyone help

I live here in wi near milwaukee as just today we got hit with a snow storm.I had the truck in four wheel drive for about 3hours,the whole underbody of the truck is packed with snow and so are all 4 tires and brakes just packed.Went to go turn off the 4wheel drive and will not switch off.Am wondering if it is because the whole underbody and all 4tires and brakes are completly packed with snow, could this be why???? has anyone had this problem before? can anyone help me and maybe shed some light????

it might be part of the problem. maybe you should just wait until its all melted off and then try and disengage it then. other then that it could be a vacuum problem. maybe somebody else can give you more info if it doesnt disengage after the snow melts.
