4x4 question
BTW, I have only owned this truck a couple weeks and went to the dealer today to get the replacement solenoid part with the covered hood. Mechanic at the desk what part I was getting and he was incredibly nice about how that was a good idea and asked if I had experienced any of the grinding yet. The only caution he offered for a rookie was to warn about bleeding any water out of the system. I don't have the problem (yet) so I will replace the part and maybe have my garage check out the system when I have it serviced soon.
The reason I ask is I want to see if I did it right? I cut a piece of rubber shock boot and wrapped it around my "older" solenoid so it covers the solenoid and vent on top. I would like to see how my fix compares to the factory fix. If I can tomorrow I'll try to snap a pic myself.
I dont think Im going to bother with the upgrade. I think mine is better protected with the shock boot around it. Here it is with the shock boot wrapped around it with a couple zip ties holding it in place. The rubber boot protests the solenoid and the electrical connector and still allows the vent on top to do its job.
