Default 4x4 not working

Yesterday as I was driving on the freeway at 65. I begin to hear a grinding noise. So I pulled over and I heard it disengage. For reading on here i know that's the front hubs trying to engage into 4x4. But when I got home I tried putting a truck in 4 wheel drive. And I got nothing lights did not switch and didn't hear any attempt from them trying. Where do I start what do I check I took a quick look at the fuses and didn't see any blown

Hubs trying to engage while driving is due to a loss of vacuum...now not being able to shift into 4WD sounds like the Transfer case.. you may have a couple problems..when is the last time you used your 4WD ??
