Default 4x4 issue

Hey folks, I’m kinda stumped and wonder if anyone else has had this issue. I have an 04 f150 fx4 that won’t go into 4 high, it goes into 4 low without issue. I have replace the IWE solenoid with a new one, replaced the transfer case motor, and still no 4 high. Tested the relays they’re all operational, no blown fuses so I’m at a loss. Any insight?

Have you verified it’s not going into 4 HI? Is the bulb blown in the cluster? Put it in 4HI in a parking lot and try to make a circle, it should fight if it’s in 4HI.

When I switched the transfer case motor 4 high flashed on for like half a second then went back out, and I have verified it isn’t going into 4 high, I was thinking about maybe changing the actuators out??

If 4LO works, it’s not an actuator problem. How did you verify 4HI isn’t working? It could be a shifting issue in the transfer case, and without it showing proper actuation there, the IWE solenoid might not be actuated either.

I never have access to a lift, so that’s pretty nice. I’m guessing your shift motor isn’t putting the transfer case in the proper position. As to why, I’m not that sure. hopefully someone else here has more experience.
