I'm actually about to have one done tomorrow. Funny thing is, truck was fine until I got my lift installed yesterday. I don't really have the means to do it myself right now, so the shop that did my lift is going to end up doing it. Depending on mileage, I'd probably do them is I was replacing front end parts anyway.

I think its more of a "engage your 4x4 every so often so they wont stick" kind of thing..but please corect me if i'm wrong on that part lol... I don't have 4x4 right now on my truck because it was sitting at the dealer for a good amount of time and they didn't switch the **** to 4x4 sooo now either somethings stuck on my 4x4 system or something is actualy broke but if you decide to replace them let me know how it goes because i will prolly have to do mine....

Replaced both a month or so back. The passenger side was a mess inside. From what I could tell, the plastic ring inside got brittle and fell apart. So replacing them after 125,000 mi wouldn't be a bad thing.
Knowing now, how easy it was to swap out, I could do both in an hour, easy.

I have 60k miles on my truck and I'm going to have to unbolt the cv's to get to the lower ball joint so I guess I'll check 'em out and if they look bad ill replace them. Thanks guys.

Does your 4x engage and disengage fine with no problems?

If somethings not broke, don't fix it!

Yeah It engages fine but I really don't want to have to tear down my front suspension again to replace stuff I could have just replaced to prevent it.

I remember having moved to the city that I havent used my 4x4 nearly as much as I did living back on the ranch. So one day I remember engaging just for fun, and the damn thing wouldnt disengage until I heard and felt a loud bang. After that, I just unplugged the whole system to not risk further damage. Never found out what that was, so I wouldnt mind seeing how to check for most of these things. I always thought it was because Ive neglected my transfer case too...
