Default 4x4 Buzzing

when not in 4 wheel drive, there is an intermitting buzzing sound coming from the front of the vehicle... once in a while it also makes some intermitting quick grinding noise when in reverse.

If i place the truck in to 4-wheel drive the sound obviously goes away.

any ideas if this is a major 4 wheel drive issue of not fully releasing?

if you fix this soon enough, it is POTENTIALLY an easy fix. to swap an IWE solenoid is very simple..... if you have a bad IWE actuator, its a little more involved, and cost more. but, if you wait to long, you could need a new hub, which obviously cost even more.

i would recommend getting a vacuum tester (cost about 10-15.00), and test the actuators for leak down. very easy to do, and will tell you right where the problem is.
