my advice is concidering i have been doing alot of work with my 04 4 wheel drive is pull off the electric motor on the transfer case it is what engages it into 4 wheel and 2. its 3 10mm bolts. take it off and you can use a set of plyers and manually engage it into 2 4h 4l. if it engages that way then id say ur electric motor is maybe toast. idk but thats what i would try
