So I have a 2008 screw. it has a 5.4 auto with electronic 4wd. Problem is that when I put it in 4wd it just snaps and clicks and wont actually engage. I have replaced both front wheel bearings and both front actuators. Still does it. The truck is leveled 2'' in the front. im running 275/60/20 on aftermarket wheels. Same backspace as factory 20s. I know this is vague and whatever else you need for info just ask. Just cant figure out why it wont engage.

 

Have you replaced the IWE solenoid ? How about a Vacuum test ?

 

vaccum test said all was normal. I haven't checked the IWE solenoid. AS soon as I put the truck under load it pops out and makes snapping noises. I will check into the solenoid and go from there.

 

Look at the transfer case shift motor also.. not sure what your saying is popping out.

 

the best i can tell it seems like the axle and actuator are not locking in properly. when i put the truck under load it sounds like its trying to stay engaged but cant.

 

what did the teeth look like when you replaced the IWE’s ?
