Default 33x12.5x20 Toyo open country mts

Hey everyone,
I've done alot of reading on this site and decided to finally join!
I have a 2007 F150 fx4 with 20 inch aluminum wheels, and I am needing new tires. I am looking at the 33x12.5x20 toyo mts as my first choice.
I have read on here that a 33 inch tire will fit on a stock 4wd truck.
My truck does not have a level kit and i am planning on keeping the stock wheels.... can anyone give me some insight as to if this set up is going to work, or am I wasting my time trying?

33x12.5x20 toyo open country mts, stock 20's and no level kit?

The tire may rub a little on your upper control arm at full lock. As long as you can live with that, you'll be fine. Why not spend the $60 bucks on a leveling kit and go for 35s, though?

I agree, you may have some rubbing due to the width 12.5 and the large side lugs on the MT design. I would try to test fit one first or go down to a 11.5 or 12 wide tire. The 33" height is about max for a stock height 4x4 so you should be OK. Welcome to the site!

I would purchase the tire because they are sweet. Some people are OK with there tires rubbing but from what you are saying I don't think you want them to rub. I would buy the tires and put a leveling kit on it. I would not purchase a leveling kit and then run anything bigger than a 33. That's my opinion.

Thanks for the input guys!
I haven't heard of anyone running these tires without a leveling kit yet but im gonna have to test it when i get the tires mounted... I will for sure put a pic up when i get this done.... what kind of rubbing are we talking here? only at full turn..i can live with that- i think.. will some trimming solve this or is a leveling kit the only way around it?

I think it is mostly going to rub metal at full turn which can't be trimmed. Adding a leveling kit will help and not to mention it will give the truck a better look too.

Wow, where can you get your truck leveled for only $60? From what I've seen, the kit will run you $60 at a minimum, then install (unless you do it yourself). Then typically it is suggested that you get an alignment, that usually runs $60 or more.

Either way, I've hear that 33"s only rub at full lock, as described (no personal experience). My problem with the level idea is the quicker wear the front end experiences, requiring more $$$ on replacement parts.

I have 33x12.5x20 Toyo MT's on my unleveled truck, I think I've heard it rub maybe 3-4 times ever at full turn. I was worried about it but it hasn't been a problem, so I say go for it.

Okay, $60 if you've already got a lifetime alignment.

Well, yeah that'd work too! Just wanted to make sure the OP was aware of all costs in case he did consider getting a level.
