Default 33s or 35s????

Yes i know there are tons of threads on 33s and 35s but i would like straight up answers. I would love to put 35s on my 08 fx4 (373 gears) but the big question is.... The noticable power loss, mpg, blah blah blah.. Or should I stick with 33s? I do have an edge evo on it with just canned tunes at the moment. Dont have the cash to regear but it needs some new shoes put on it.

My 4.6 with 3.55 gears and 35s with Evo pulls pretty good. You should be fine, it's really not that weak. My best 0-60 is 8.66 and it'll easily spin them over.

I have 35s and the same programmer and tunes...the power loss isn't huge...the mpg loss is noticeable though

I think the bigger threat is to the transmission having to work so much harder without the gears no?

You are correct, but mine runs and shifts fine.

im just curious...do you think the evo has anything to with the shifts? I've read a bit about the tuner "firming" up the shift points which is supposedly better for the tranny. Do you think or know that the tuner is a quasi sub for re gearing. Again I'm just curious. Trying to learn all I can. I have the 5.4 btw. Not sure if that makes a difference having to do with the trans and all.

Yes, the Evo has multiple settings for shifting. I am not so sure it's much of a sub for gears though, it definitely helps though. But I am about like you are, I have little experience but I try to learn as much as I can being only 17.

i went from 255/70/17's to 295/70/17's and it's fine if you don't tow or haul much... I'd even be comfortable going bigger if you didn't tow or haul much(i think 35's would be max for me in that case) but towing and hauling sucks with them... I'm having it re gearing as we speak (3.55 to 4.10)

As we speak my trans is getting rebuilt from the wreck it was in before i bought it. The tranny cooler was busted and it was slipping. Im having heavier clutches put in it so I should be fine with 35s I would think. Depending on the fuel mileage decrease.. Thanks for the replys everyone!
