It's beautiful and I thought it was a great idea, but I just put a huge magnet against my phone and it didn't stick. There's some attraction, but not enough to hold the phone vertical.
It looks like my case is aluminum or stainless steel so I'm guessing this won't work for some phones.

Stick that on your phone, under your case, or on the phone itself, whatevs. It's thin and they stick well.

No, magnets are bad for HDD but they wont hurt a SSD or flash memory like used in a phone. Well I guess a really really strong magnet could hurt your phone but not the memory in said phone.

It seems that I am not the only one who found the origional coin holder pointless.
The magnet is from a widely used phone holder, Additionally, i believe magnets posed a risk to traditional hard drives but phones use SSD so it should be ok, I have had no issues with my phone.
I am going the throw up some Renderings of what i did when i get home. Also I would be happy so sell these if there is interest.

Here is a general idea. Originally it was designed to clip in. However, I found the backing plate a far better option.
The assembly conceals all of the hardware and the magnetic holder threads into the face. The magnetic holder I used is from one of my suppliers. You would have to find and option for that and adjust the drawing accordingly.
A very thing metal plate is sandwiched between the back of your phone and case.
