I did by it from a dealer. On Saturday. Is that the cam phaser noise? My old chevy had way worse noises then this and the thing went to 200k when i traded it in, also illinois 3 day law does not apply to cars

Lord have mercy! Would ya just listen to that rattle trap in the VID! Must not be a single moving part in that sloppy running SOB that ain't rattling, tapping, knocking or making some other despicable noise - attributable solely to its brand name. You'll be damn lucky if you get thirty more miles out of that rattle trap. Can't imagine what that horse thief car salesman did to that thing in order to sluff it off on you. And then to just think - your state laws are no help for such blatant Fraud on you as to allow such God forbidden screwing as to cram one of them damn 'FORD' down your throat with NO recourse!
Now - go take the Oil Filler cap off, redo your video and put your phone right next to it at the end. That'll produce a better Ford bashing ad for you to post on some Chevy site.

Good lord! I never seen Torqued go off like this LOL. Even though it could be suggested with his Username. Torqued you also for got to quote him where he says "The engine is toast" that is my favorite. I'm done with this though, any sensible person will know all vehicles have their issues and it is completely up to no one but YOURSELF to do your research and know what you're buying.

I dont get it? Im looking for some help, whats this guys deal? I need to know if this engine is done and need a lawyer to go after this dealer. or is this the "normal" tick ive heard about.

I bought the truck saturday it it was pretty quiet didnt sound out of the ordinary but after coming on these forums and talking to other ford owners who told me how bad the 5.4l is, i keep listening and i hear noises. Perhaps all the ford bashing on these boards have caused me to over think it.

So does my video sound like the cam phaser issue because if so i need a lawyer. We dont have the 3 day law here in Illinois.

I do love this truck throw much smoother ride then any truck ive ever had.

Where did i ever say it was the brand name?
i said its the 5.4l. My gramps had a 95 f150 that went 300k thing was a beast.

I came on here for some help. If the engine roasted i need a lawyer, you guys have more knowledge then me and i heard good things about these forums. I didnt expect to get mocked and accused of bashing for asking weather or not my engine had the cam phaser problem.

Can some one help me what do you hear in the video? Im new to the ford family and i didnt expect this kind of welcome from fellow ford owners.

any help is greatly appreciated

i noticed on another site you mentioned that people drive with the knock for 100k miles plus. Also you said you uses 0w40.

Would ypu reccomend switching to 0w40? I live in chicgao should i switch it up in winter. Also can you really drive with this knock for a long time ive heard mixed things. I know originally ford said it was normal and to just leave it

Perhaps i rubbed some the wrong way. I apoligize for that. But when you buy a truck and jump on the boards to look up mods and maintenice routines then get bombared with "the 5.4l sucks" "i wouldn't recommend a 5.4l to my cheating x wife" its a cause for concern. My apologies ifbit seems like im just bashing the brand i spent 12k on this truck i want it to last forever lol.

Well I don't hear the phaser knock in the video but cell phone videos are difficult to hear. I drove mine for about a year with a louder more clear phaser knock before I put the $3k into having it fixed right. As stated there are many on here with original phasers that have gone 250k plus miles. Its about making sure its maintained properly. Here is a video you can hear the knock in. Its not the tick its much more of a "clack" sound than a tick.

Another thing is most of the time the engine wont quit. It may run like crap, sound like crap, get poor MPGs, and lack power but quite a few people ignore the sound and just drive them for years from what I hear. I wouldn't use any oil other than 5w-20 or sometimes 5w-30.
