Default 2007 Explorer heater issues.

I have a 2007 explorer that had the notorious heater actuator clicking sound, after replacing the actuator (did not use Ford OEM part) there is little to no heat coming from any of the vents. I have gained access to the actuator and visibly observed it function, I've read that the actuator is VIN specific and only the Ford part will work. Is this true? Any info would be greatly appreciated as it's freaking cold outside

For what it's worth I just had the same problem. Took it to my trusted mechanic and he replaced the blend door motor. Unfortunately he used a Dorman motor. It lasted less than a week. Now he's installed yet another at no charge. We'll see how long this one lasts.

I'm going to install the Ford OEM part tomorrow and see what happens. I think that the waste gate is not being fully closed by the one I put in.

Added new radiator fluid and topped off coolant reservoir, heater works fine now. I'm going to install the OEM blend door actuator when it arrives, not going to chance the Doorman motor.

Wise choice on the oem. I'm on my second Dorman.
