2006 remote start
There is another box on the other side of the xpress kit but cant see exactly what it is without tearing the bottom of the dash off. I'm pretty sure it is the remote start module. I guess I need to figure that out and see exactly what it is and the options it has. I'm still thinking about installing a new system though just to add the security feature. I'm waiting to hear from an installer to see if he can wire it up for me. I'm not sure I want to try to tackle it myself. The old lady wants a system on her new Edge as well so I might just buy 2 of them.
That makes more sense. It's probably not worth tearing too much into it because even if you find you can add an antenna and remote, you're still likely going to have to wire lock/unlock wires (for that functionality) and the cost will be almost as much as replacing it probably. The good news is, most of it's already wired so rewiring shouldn't be too bad depending how they did it (to a point...). Another plus is you already have the Xpress Kit bypass so if whoever installs the new one wants to re-use that one it'll save you some money there as well as a bonus. I'd probably swap it though too if I were in that position but I've installed mine all myself so it makes it easier to justify lol.
I run a Compustar 2-way Pro 901. I've added a glass break sensor, tilt sensor, the factory shock sensor (I have it dialed low though as I don't want every bus setting it off). Just a recommendation to note, depending on the unit they're harder on vehicle batteries. If you leave your vehicle for a week and a half to two weeks it may drain your battery enough to be hard to start (especially in cold temps of course). It's not a ton of draw, but it's enough to slowly drain the battery enough. I just like to point that out to people. I left our car at the airport for 3 weeks and it was completely dead (not a single light would come on). Obviously the ECU is going to draw power as well but my compustar 2-way alarm + start isn't the nicest to it either (Compustar has a low-battery start feature you can turn on built in if needed).

Hello guys. I'm new to the site. Just bought a 2006 Lariat crew cab last night and I'm trying to figure out if I can disable a feature on the truck. My truck has remote start (assuming factory) and the key pad on the drivers door for unlocking. I have found that if you push the last 2 digits twice when locking the door that the truck will start. Two more times will shut it off. I'm not sure that I like that fact since anyone can essentially crank my truck when walking by. Is there any way to disable that feature. I tried a search but found nothing. Thank in advance
