Default 2006 Horn Issues

Greetings,

Been lurking for awhile, glad to finally be a member.

I have a 2006 KingRanch. I swear my horn used to sound more "beefy"....lately I am too embarassed to even honk when someone cuts me off. It is very high pitched.

I have been reading online, and i keep seeing where I should have a dual set of horns...a high and low tone. I looked and only found 1 horn, behind the passenger side headlight.

Do I only have one, or am I missing something? If so, think by replacing the stock horn with a NEW stock horn will fix the problem?

Thanks,
C_

PS: not interested in installing an after-market horn system.

you should have 2 horns, unless Ford integrated them all in one, if thats the case then one of them went out. you can go to a parts store or the dealer and get a replacement or even Ebay.

Only problem Ive found with going to an automotive store is on your truck the wires "plug" into the horn on the stock most likely wont "plug" into the new horns, you have to wire it in. I need to get new horns, mines diong the same thing yours is but I have to 2 seperate horns for high and low. good luck

Thanks for the reply.

If anyone knows definitively if the 2006 model has 1 or 2 horns, that would help greatly.

Thanks,

Where is the second horn located? One is behind the passenger's side headlight, the other is where (thought it was supposed to be behind driver's side headlight, but didn't see anything)?

Thanks,

Default Two Horns!

There are two horns. One low freq and one high freq. Had a similar issue, low freq horn went out and made my truck sound like a VW Beetle

Same problem here I live in mn and it seems like every winter. Well 2 outta the 3 I've owned my truck I've lost the low frequency horn. I've had to replace mine twice urs right up from. Very easy to do. Unsure of price since I didn't pay for parts I got it done with a bunch of warranty work ( put ESP on mine and I'm a tech at a ford dealer ) prob around $40? Give it a whirl and it'll be back to normal!
