2006 F150 Code P0191 under load
My 2006 F150 threw codes P0301 and P0191 while pulling a trailer up a long hill. It started to lurch. I was able to get home by being gentle with the throttle.
Around town the truck drives fine.
Ford P0191 fuel rail pressure sensor
Ford P0301 cyl 1 misfire
I checked the fuel rail pressure using an OBD/Laptop - it sits around 40psi at idle and at 3000RPM.
So what's the problem? Fuel filter? Fuel Pump driver module? Fuel pump? Fuel pressure sensor?
OK, so I will replace the easy stuff first: new fuel filter for sure. Looked at the FPDM and its not too corroded, but I will replace it anyways.
How can I test the fuel pump? How about testing the sensor? Are these parts the type to either work or fail, with no inbetween?
thanks

Replaced the filter and the FPDM.
WOW! what a difference! The engine runs smoother, it revs faster. Hooked up a 28ton trailer and it pulled it up a 12% hill at 80mph.
ha ha - just kidding.
No difference, still works the same. IOW around town, drives fine. I have to try it with the trailer on I guess to see if the problem has gone away. Check pressure, still around 40PSI at idle and 3000 RPM
