2006 F-150 FX4 Back Seat/Instrument Cluster Questions
Had a few questions about part usability.
Have a 2006 F-150 FX4 Super Cab we inherited.
Was at a junk yard and saw a 2005 F-150 Super Crew and had some possible interior parts I wanted.

- Rear bench seats - Even though we have a Super Cab and this junk one is a Super Crew, are the bench/back seats identical and is this just a straight swap of backs and bottom? Junk one has some nice cloth better than our stained/gummed up ones.
- Instrument Cluster Replacement - Noticed the gauges had a different layout and kinda liked the junk ones. Also our 2006 instrument cluster has the dreaded brake light always on that needs soldering. Is this a direct swap also? 1st pic is ours. 2nd is junk. Also does that 2nd gauge cluster have the dreaded brake light on due to the solder issue?

Re cluster swap: both trucks have to have manual AC. If the donor truck also does, it can swap. If the donor has auto climate control, your AC will not function after the swap.

Just an opinion on the cluster question: I would suggest either living with the light, OR send yours out for repair, OR buying one that has already been repaired. I would not go through hassle of buying/swapping in a used unit.
I say this because it is a very common problem, and sometimes just pulling/reinstalling can cause the problem (ie so even if donor is working prior to pulling, that’s not to say it won’t have issue after installing).
ex: I pulled my working cluster to replace odometer light bulb and since then I’ve had the problematic/intermittent brake light issue.
