The brakes always seem to be the money maker for shops every where you go.

Jason, i have a 2006 F150 Supercrew 2wd and had to have my front rotors turned at 25k! I did pull a pretty heavy tandom axle trailer about 6 times with no trailer brakes but I wasnt hard on my brakes either. At 40k i had my rear rotors replaced and new brakes added. In my opinion, for a 1/2 ton truck, the rotors that Ford makes for these F150's are HORRIBLE! When i had my rear rotors replaced and new brakes put on, it cost me around $460. This summer i will be doing the front brake and rotor change myself. Do it yourself, its not that complicated.

I love my F150 and will always buy a ford because overall it has been a great truck, but i think Ford skipped out on quality rotors on thier F150's.

I took my 06' 4x4 in at 32,000 with a brake shudder and the dealership replaced my front rotors under warranty. The service manager said it was a known problem with the alloy used but Ford wasn't doing a recall because not all drivers would experience the warping because of different driving styles. He also told me I'm luck it happened before 36,000 because they would have considered it normal wear at that point regardless.

I have only 19000 miles on my 06 STX. I am extremely easy on brakes. My two cars have 80000 miles each with no hint of rotor warpage or pedal pulsing.

The rotors on my STX have pad material already fused into the them, causing pedal pulsing. I am very disappointed in F-150 2WD brakes, not to mention the crude bearing/rotor arrangement which makes it a big expense to replace.

make sure when you do it yourself to torque the rotors to 300 ft lbs that what ford book says.
