Default 2006 5.4L Exhaust Recommendations

Team,

I realized this has probably been asked multiple times and if you can direct me to a post that can help I'd greatly appreciate it. I am looking for exhaust for my truck.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I know that MagnaFlow and Flowmaster are popular.

I went the off route.
Did two Thrush Welded mufflers and dual 2.5" side exit tips.

I went custom on my '07 when I had it. 2.5" off each cat, to two 12" cherry bomb glasspacks, then stepped down to 2.25" straight out the back to 16"x3" tips. No crossover at all, sounded awesome. Link takes you to video of it. http://vid1337.photobucket.com/album...ps7x3z4rdt.mp4

Depends on budget/goals.

For NA truck, I'd drop factory muffler and add magnaflow in 18" body. This sounds nice/mellow and not obnoxious. You need a muffler and a hunk of pipe. Low cost.

From there, the cost really gets exponential. Catbacks start at about the $250 mark depending on quality. The MBRP XP is a nice system, this was what I graduated to after the magnaflow above, this was nice and mellow, more aggressive than the above mentioned magnaflow.

There is no power gained by doing much with the exhaust on a 5.4, so I wouldn't spend a lot of time/money on it TBH.

And do it right the first time. Originally, I wanted a set of Stainless Works headers and did pacesetters, and wanted to do 3" dual exhaust with the borlas. YTD I have approx 2k invested into exhaust parts and work. I still do not have the stainless headers, and just put the borlas on.

I had coated them with a base thermal barrier coating and then with a ceramic thermal barrier, so the coating is helping to preserve them. The spots that got beat up during install are rusting, and on the front of the headers, it appears like they are sand blasted from the road dirt and rusting. They won't last forever and I am not looking forward to installing the right ones.
