i recommend a new engine. I had a timing cover leak, 135, decided to do phasers timing, then rockers went bad, mechanic inefficinefficiency etc. Would have been less expensive to just replace motor in beginning.

That's why I decided on a new engine instead of trying to fix the old one. It might have been fixable but that's an economic gamble even if you're capable of doing the work yourself. Which I am not.

The one quote I have came in around $11k and has been unanimously described as excessive. The two major items were (1)remanned Jasper 5.4 engine+install kit $7400 (2)Install labor $2500.

At this level, I don't even know how to describe what it is I want other than for the engine to run well for the next 40-50k miles.
the only engine you want is built by aer. If you go to auto zone for a 5.4 you see getting a junk atk engine. I did a year of research. Fordtecjh went away from jasper and also powertrain products because powertrain products was sneaking in a lot of aftermarket stuff like Dorman phasers. I bought mine from power train ENGINES out of okc.
I requested a total AER built 5.4 full oem no after market. it came with plugs installed and all gaskets. Runs like it should have when it left fMarkey. These put all the upgrades like the melling pump vcts and pistons along with melling rockers. Just specify All Oem from AER. The reason why jasper and Frazier along with a few others lost thier rep is they started jobbing the engines out across the country and lost quality control. AER builds all thier engines in a state of the art facility. Go to AER website and check it out.Remembet AER all OEM. Powertrajn products wanted 500 more for all Oem.
